Course description:

Do you want to learn the popular search engine, Elasticsearch, from the beginning and become a professional in no time? This course is an excellent starting point for you to quickly learn the basics of Elasticsearch and to put your knowledge to work in just a few hours! Elasticsearch is an extremely popular search engine and will be an excellent addition to your CV – even if you are already familiar with other search engines or frameworks such as Apache Lucene, Apache Solr, Amazon CloudSearch, etc.

The course is a combination of theory and learning by doing. Before giving examples of how to perform certain queries, you will have been equipped with the necessary theory in advance. This ensures that you not only know how to perform powerful searches with Elasticsearch, but that you also understand the relevant theory.

The course starts from the absolute beginning, and no prior experience or knowledge with Elasticsearch is required. We will walk through all of the most important aspects of Elasticsearch, and at the end of this course, you will be able to build powerful search engines. This could be for a website where you could build Google-like search functionality, for example.

So, join me in this course and learn to build powerful search engines with Elasticsearch today!

Reviews:

“Fantastic introduction to ES. Gets you ready & confident to tackle real world applications using ES. My only gripe is that there were portions where he spoke about certain query types instead of demoing them (or at least pointing us to the docs to read more). I skipped the last section (build a sample app) at the end because I thought I wouldn’t need it but watched it a bit later and was surprised with how nice it was to be walked through an example of building business logic.
I was using ES5 (and Kibana 5) through the entire thing and there were very little pieces to adjust, namely:
– the plugins he has you install at the beginning come out-of-the-box for Kibana5 and ES5 (“Sense” is renamed as “Dev Tools”)
– a couple things are deprecated (e.g. the “missing” query type no longer exists)
– aggregations & filters on string fields need to have the type “keyword”, not “text”
(all of this info is available via the ES docs)
All-in-all great course. I bought it on sale ($14 instead of list price of ~$200), but I would not have paid $200 for this course. I probably wouldn’t have even been able to justify $200 of company money for this course, unless they *really* needed to educate me on the basics of ES.” (Ryan Baker)

“The lectures assume you’re running on mac with curl installed. If you’re not, you’re on your own to figure out how to get things running properly. No instructions. No troubleshooting guide.
The lectures themselves are okay, but it’s all just follow along with no assignments. I expected far more from a course that charges.” (Chris Wells)

“Definitely learned a lot with this course. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a head start in working with Elasticsearch.
The first few lectures are bit bland with theory. The course gets interesting with the demos and examples.” (Mithun James)
