“The main issue with this course is as the projects get more complex, if you make a mistake you are often stuck figuring it out on your own. The instructor will reply “Have you compared your code to my code” to almost every question. Reading through the QA I can say support is pretty bad, often with the instructor never replying to a student.
The other main issue is that this course does not really explain the “why” behind much of what you are doing. If you take the time to read the docs and other online help boards you can generally figure out what something does but it isn’t always apperent off the bat. The course claims you only need a basic understanding of PHP and HTML but I think that unless you already have solid HTML/CSS skills, and a grasp on OOP concepts you might struggle if you have never coded in another language.
That being said, there is a lot of good info, projects scale up in complexity well. I personally like the teaching style, and it’s good to see the mistakes as they happen and watch the process for figuring out how to fix them. I would recommend this if you have a basic grasp on PHP, solid HTML/CSS skills, and know (at least conceptually) about OOP and are looking to see how it all comes together to make real web apps.” (Jake B.)
