“Most of the content is useful if somewhat outdated. Some of these technologies are older and sometimes unsupported. No new content has been posted by the author.
There is a lot of copy and paste especially in the later lectures. But that’s understandable once you have sufficiently grasped the concept of what you are copying.
My biggest issue is that the author/instructor has not updated any content nor will he answer any questions beyond a terse “We’ll look into that”. This content was generated, put online and abandoned by the author.
The Firebase project specifically (the last and largest project) took many times longer to figure out since each step had to be translated to the most recent version of Firebase. I’ve added my notes to the [barely useful] Udemy Questions and Answers forum for future students.
The whole course took me three months to complete working on it (mostly) 5 days a week for 1 or two hours a day.
A very large amount to different technologies was used throughout. My goal was to get a basic knowledge of how node works and get myself ready to build a production application. I feel like I have the basic tools I’ll need to attempt to do this. The hunting for solutions did teach me just as much, or more, than the video lectures did. But the lectures did provide a template to use and some code explanation of what we are trying to build.
I can’t help but wonder if there is a newer Node class available by a different author. One that is up to date and currently supported.” (Tim Holt)
