“This is an excellent course. In my opinion anyone with intermediate level of programming should get this if they want to learn android development.
Having said that, anyone with no programming knowledge, in my opinion, should put this course on wishlist and not buy it to >>learn from scratch<<. The reasons I say this I will explain below. But first of all I want to thank Tim and JP for the course, which is excellent as I’ve already said. You can learn a lot here from two professional developers. So, the good:  Tim and JP have loads of years of knowledge to give us very nice apps and lessons;  This course will give anyone that does it an excellent knowledge of Android Development. I mean, EXCELLENT;  The coding and design knowledge they have is much appreciated in the time you want to do your own apps, since you’ll already know what NOT to do and what to DO;  There is no much to say since excellent describes the course as 5 stars already. Of course though, as humans, there are always points to be better. In my opinions these points where to be better are:  Tim, in my humble and newbie opinion, emphasizes too much on the “Go read documentation if you want to be a good programmer”. Yes, that’s totally true. No args here. But after the whole course I often got the feeling of some lack of explanation about this or that function or why you used that method and how did you knew that. Of course, 30 years of experience. But in my 10 years of experience I still explain IT to my parents or friends that aren’t experts like they are 5 years old. JP already answered me one time emphasizing again that this comes from reading documentation and experience and from that time I accepted it but didn’t enjoyed it. My point is, when doing my own apps I go to google documentation, stack overflow and other forums to know what to do, getting tips from experienced people. In a course I don’t want to stop the video, read tons of extremely non friendly documentation about methods and stuff to learn where that came from. An example is the TOP 10 Downloader App that I only understood after coming back for the second time. But that second time I came back from another android course in Udemy, not on my own to try again; a beginner one for people wanting to learn everything from int to classes (I was 8 years without reading anything about coding and forgot tons of simple stuff); and in that course I got to some very simple methods that were simplest versions of what that app was doing. And the guy explained like I was 5 years old and I came back and re-watched the entire Top 10 app and saw that my doubts were extremely dumb. But reading docs alone didn’t helped me. That’s my point on repeating that documentation is important. It is. When you are alone. On a video course, my opinion is that you can always explain a little more precise because there are tons of different kinds of people trying to understand you. Doesn’t need to be extremely stupid like I’m 5 but more attentive to this (Where this came from? Or How did you knew you had to do that?).  The other thing is just to point, select or do something when you finish writing the code and start explaining it so we can see what part are you talking about. The explanations are excellent but more often than not I got myself looking at the whole new written code to see what were you explaining (Me looking at the screen: You mean that first part we wrote or you started explaining here in the middle?)  The last app was tooooooo big imo. But that’s just my opinion. I don’t like 15-20min videos. And the app has so much stuff on it that I will have, someday, to come back and watch it again. But, as I’ve said, this is just me, because I like the dynamic of 10 min videos. Makes me feel more productive. Watching a 15min + video can make you have too much to assimilate. I am now self employed developing apps for Android; programming in a range of languages including Java, Javascript and Python; and helping the next generation of programmers gain the skills that I have acquired over the years.
The first program I sold controlled stock movement in a warehouse, and ran on a CP/M computer – both the program and operating system lived in the 64 kb (yes, kilobytes) that was all CP/M systems had in those days.
I have gained experience in a wide range of industries including Utilities, Retail, Insurance and the Motor Manufacturing industry. My clients and employers have included Northumbrian Water, Arcadia, Royal Sun Alliance, Nissan and Jaguar Landrover.
