We are going to start with a simple game that I call Jack The Giant. In this game we are going to help Jack climb down the beanstalk, along the way we can jump on white clouds but we need to avoid dark clouds. Besides of creating our gameplay we are going to create menus, implement background music, and much much more.

The next game that we are going to create is Flappy Bird, and I know what you are thinking oh not another Flappy Bird clone, but this is not a regular Flappy Bird clone, oh no, I’ve added a lot of features that you can’t find in any other flappy bird clone such as selecting a bird(choose between different flappy birds), and many other features that you will see inside of the course.

Reviews:

“Very clear instructions from the teacher. The subject is not easy but if you get stucked just go back and watch the video again. I really recommend the course if you love gameprogramming” (Peter Melin)

“This is exactly what I was looking for. I was searching for a great tutorial about lib gdx but with no luck, on the web or youtube and when I saw this one I bought it in an instance. This tutorial covers everything that you need to know, from java basics, lib gdx basics up to the most advanced features of lib gdx. I like how the explanations are slow, clear, and easy to understand and follow, and on top of all that you get to create cool games and see how you can use lib gdx in a game that you can publish online. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to learn lib gdx.” (Pro Gamer Gamer)

“Explanations are clear and precise. It’s very easy to understand how to perform the actions being presented.
My only critique so far is that the instructor repeats himself a little too often which makes some of the videos feel a little bit long. It’s easy for me to rewind a video if I want to hear something again but it isn’t so easy to skip a repeat explanation since I don’t know when it ends.
Edit: Unfortunately, for the sake of honesty I have to modify my review now that I have finished the first project. Throughout the course, the instructor calls attention to a certain problem involving the inconsistent positioning of elements within the game. He hand waves these problems by saying that they are an example of “libGDX playing crazy” and simply offers a hack solution to correct the problem. I found, by looking through the questions and answer section, that multiple students have pointed out that the problem comes from a simple mistake on the instructor’s part. This is not a problem in and of itself but none of the videos in the course have been edited (even with a simple annotation) to make new students aware of the potential issue and its solution. The further you go into the course without discovering the real solution on your own, the more of a headache it is to correct and I can’t help but feel that it shows a certain lack of professionalism that none of the videos in the course acknowledge that there is a better way of solving the problem than using a hack. Even an update to the project’s source code providing the real solution would be a big help.” (Michael Shaughnessy)
